An August Wedding

Yet another tropical day, and it was harder than ever to face tacking up and riding, but we rallied, and had a fun and productive time. Oisin enjoyed his après ride cookie, but expressed his opinion of hard work. Soon, he was resting up for tomorrow, which should be the last scorching day.

Roscoe rolled around on the ground, since it was too hot for any other exercise. Marmalade complained that he was melting. Meanwhile, still no sign of Pinto. Since he has not returned for over a week, I think we can assume he is off to other adventures. At least he is traveling well vaccinated and without testicles.

I confess I found indoor chores to do today, for the most part, until mid afternoon, when I went to Labadie for the long anticipated wedding of Hillary Moore and Tyler Stahlman. Susan did barn chores and turnout for us this evening, taking the pressure off, so I could enjoy the big event.

I met Hillary when I was working at The Tack Trunk ten years ago. We have had some memorable times, with clinics and jumpfests and horse shows. And early in our friendship, cancer, which Hillary has beaten. Tyler was by her side all along, and even helped out here with some hard work while he was in school. Now he is a well respected chiropractor (of horses and humans). Tyler was the original owner of Cora, the cat, who now lives here. We also took in Hillary’s horse, Monk, when she was sick, finding him another home. Now, Hillary is a professional trainer and rider, working with Katana Kennedy-O’Brien at KEE West, a top local stable.

In a strange synchronicity, Tyler and Hillary are living at the farm established years ago by Tina, our treasured friend. We have seen Whissendine become Trinita, and it is now Samara. It is a beautiful place, with some good memories, and a lovely setting for a wedding and reception. The weather was warm, but clement, and there was a good breeze. Hillary was a beautiful bride, Tyler a handsome groom, and there was much love and celebration. Katie Young, another frequent jumpfester here in the past, was a bridesmaid, and there were many horse friends in attendance. It was a lovely party.

Wishing many happy years ahead to the newlyweds. Stay safe, stay well, stay cool. Peace.
