The forecast made me worry that we might have to reschedule all sorts of things. Another winter weather advisory, and it was snowing when dawn broke. But soon it fell to the uphill side of 32 degrees, and a general melt left plans intact. It was brief enough that it was actually pretty!
Harry slept in quite late, after a painless night for the first time. Weedy joined him for second sleep, of course.
Once awake, Harry did his exercises and greeted a snowy Cedar. He could see the snow on the skylights over his head. He also saw a shooting star one clear night! It must be strange to have your view of the world above your head. I was scurrying around preparing for a ladies’ lunch. Louise and Pam were coming by after their riding lessons at Great Griffin. I decanted Mary’s pounds of gorgeous Lindt chocolates from the huge box in which they arrived into all my glass bowls where they look decorative, as well as delicious.
Nettie continues to keep watch Chocolates!
Louise and Pam, like many friends, were amazed at how far out in the country we live. We never thought about it that way, but the wheelchair van, and the ambulance we should have called, have been a wake up call that we are somewhat remote here. But then, that’s why we are here instead of in town. We like being off the beaten track.
Anyway, we had a lovely lunch, and Harry was greatly cheered by having four beautiful women at his beck and call. He was also cheered by brownies and almond cookies that arrived with Pam and Louise. They were seeing our place for the first time under less than perfect conditions, to say the least! They got the nickel tour and have promised to come back when things are ship shape again (which means they will probably never get back). Harry points out the real silver was produced for this occasion!
It turns out that Pam is a bit of an astronomer! She noticed our telescope, which we have not used more than once in the past… many years. To our delight, she will give it a good home. Here is Pam with the telescope – I’m so glad they found each other! She also took the years of dust that came with the telescope…
Harry got up and did PT after lunch, walk / hopping over to visit Cedar on the couch, and into the office to check his computer. It is beginning to feel like progress.
As usual, the day didn’t have enough hours for all that I meant to do. As I was bringing the horses in, Bill Collette pulled in with the solution to supper. Janis had made beautiful vegetable soup (and bread with butter and parsley), complete with instructions on how to reheat (you can never be too explicit for me in the kitchen). Janis wasn’t with him, but I did get a picture of Bill, and also the beautiful pot and plate that brought Janis’ welcome meal on a tray…
We have learned much through this misadventure, most of all how lucky we are to have so many generous friends!
Happy to see good friends abound. The skylight over the bed in our Rosie the Camper is one of my favorite things. Thanks for sharing good news and smiles. Healing energies are humming.
Can’t say it better than Linda❤️ You all know me, as Linda’s Aunt I believe😀Anne, when all this is said and done, so cliché, I’ll eagerly await your book.
Kept thinking about these outdoor photos, gorgeous! And, you captured the Cardinal’s take off! Beautiful!
