Frosty Morning

A less stressful night left me refreshed, as Harry continues to improve, with the drugs slowly working their way out of his system. The sun rose on a beautiful frost as I went out to the barn.

Marmalade greeted me, anxious for breakfast on a cold morning.

Once morning chores were done, Harry, Weedy, and I headed north to Pike County – a long drive for a short visit with old friends. Bunny may actually be our oldest friend, though her spirit is ever youthful. Her daughter, Holly, performed in The Rose Tattoo with Harry last summer, and has a herd of goats, one of which, Zest, also appeared in the production, stealing the show. We had a salubrious visit. Bunny has perhaps one of the most fascinating life stories of any of our friends, and is always scintillating. She has recently recovered from a fractured pelvis, like our friend, Marilyn. Seems there is a lot of that going around these days, as we all age. I would advise avoiding any kind of fractures, especially that one!

The bluebirds paid a visit today. They are always celebrated, carrying happiness on their sky blue feathers. Of course, we love all the birds.

The horses are always ready for their daily feeding at the end of the afternoon. Since they are all easy keepers, they only get one feeding daily. They have plenty of hay, but they do love their meager meal.

And so, another day draws to a close. We are overcome and grateful for all the kind messages from friends after Harry’s miserable Thursday. Wishing health and better days for all!

Be safe, be well, stay in touch. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. Yay! I feel like Marmalade looks today as I read your words and view joy on hooves, wings, paws, and two feet.
    Carry on!

  2. Love Bunny’s book. Reading it to John as he still loves to be read to since childhood. Enjoyed our visit over lunch also and glad to see Harry doing well! Xoom Karen
