Creatures

My brother, Mark, & his wife, Cynthia, & their dog, Kota, are visiting. Mark is very technically proficient, but he lives in the city of Chicago with a world class infrastructure, so he is confounded by the leaden internet speed out here in the country. I feel reassured that it’s not just my ineptitude. Off to Starbucks…

Kota runs with Mark for miles every day in Chicago, so he was happy to get out of the car and play some frisbee. Watching him, I am reminded how privileged we are to share our time on this planet with other creatures.

I did also take pictures of the humans, for posterity.

Harry and Weedy watched the frisbee activity. Nettie slept in the house, her frisbee days being behind her now.

Of course, the horses are creatures that virtually rule our life. We never forget how fortunate we are to spend most of our time and money on these creatures.

Cats are interesting creatures, depending on us, like the dogs and horses, but living in a more mysterious realm.

The wild creatures that surround us are most inscrutable of all. There will be fewer creatures to see with winter ahead. Reptiles and amphibians are already scarce. But soon, we hope, birds will be flocking to feeders.

New England autumn exceeds Missouri color, but even here, it is an uncommonly lovely season.

Biodiversity is in peril, so we cherish all the creatures while we can.

Sorry to end on a somber note. Be safe, be well. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. Beautiful sunset. I love your two ginger cats. A friend of mine has two that also seem very bonded. I wonder if it’s a particular ginger cat thing. I have found them to have strong personalities.

  2. As to the cats, especially Marmalade and Roscoe, not so sure that Marmalade accepts Roscoe’s supposed rule over the clan. Weedy is hysterical. Does he think this business of forever running about chasing man made things is silly? Silly and for whatever reason, yet, certianly exhausting? As to the creatures, my other half, and I agree heartily, believes that nature will out live, and survive the human. BRAVO I say!!
