Two Days – December 23, 2021

Two days until Christmas, and it is unseasonably warm today. Jane and I rode Derry and Bart, figuring the weather would keep them from being too wild, but it was unpleasantly windy. Christmas season is hectic and virus concerns are adding a level of stress. We know several vaccinated and boostered people who have Covid, albeit mild cases. It does cast a shadow.

Our planned trip to Columbia yesterday was postponed, which gave us some bonus time, and we did an early decoration of the tree, not waiting until Christmas Eve. There are, after all, no children here to surprise.

Weedy was disappointed to miss a long car trip, but he made do with dreaming on the sofa.

Today, Weedy went for a long adventure, and was tuckered out by the time he returned.

As we were about to ride, Victoria, Rebecca’s sister, stopped by with a huge box of Christmas baked treats for us and for Jane. We are going to get very fat this season! The horses and I need to get on an exercise schedule in the New Year.

Jane and Derry won the coveted Gilliam grooming award today! Given to the filthiest horse, it is quite a contest around here.

Roscoe is in denial of another cat in the house, after Arthur’s unpleasantness at their initial introduction. As far as I know, he has not been to the basement for two days. Meanwhile, Arthur has no desire to venture upstairs, but is always happy of a visit and seems quite content. I am hoping that, in time, they will accept each other as pals.

All of us enjoyed the warm weather, Oisin and Stone still on vacation, waiting at the gate to come in.

Even the artist is taking life easy as we slide into Christmas. We are saving our energy for a burst of ambitious productivity in 2022.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.

  2. Merry Christmas dear Anne and Harry,

We have received your much anticipated Christmas card. As usual, it is delightful, and we love the artist’s rendition of you busy life, animals and all..

  3. It will be difficult for anyone to top Jane today for the grooming award. I winced even before I read the caption : )
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!

  4. It’s delightful to see your wonderfully, whimsically decorated tree! And that last photo of Harry–that’s a keeper.
Merry Christmas to you both and all your dear ones, human and non-.

  5. Merry Christmas! Ho Ho Ho, although no snow. 2022 is coming, hopeful yearnings reign! Not good news about your friends, boosters and all, that got Covid. Maybe, this new strain since it is weaker, is a sign that the virus is fading. Oh, sigh, to be a four legged creature at Bonze Fox Farm, no worries excepting that darn new cat! Happy Days! Thank you Anne and Harry and Jane for sharing your lives with us.
