Thursday – April 30, 2020

A perfect Spring day arrived to end the month of April. I ventured out for mower gas, a few groceries, and more mulch, since Thursday is gardening day.

Thursday was also PT day this week, but I missed it – I waved to Dan as I was driving in and he was departing. Apparently, he worked Harry very hard. Unfortunately for Harry, the ankle weights Dan suggested had arrived and they added a lot to the workout.

By the time I returned, Rebecca was hard at work, beautifying the area around the pond. She has done wonders here. Even the frogs are impressed!

I wandered over to check on the ring after the rains yesterday. The footing was great. I took my camera with me.

Meanwhile, Harry had an interview on Zoom with The NorthEast Sports Network from Boston about the Bobby Orr sculpture. Cedar and Mistletoe helped behind the scenes (or below).

We rode Derry and Bart without nosebands today, having watched a video that suggested it would make them softer in the bridle. I guess I didn’t really get it, because I don’t think it made much difference. But we had a good ride, and added in some jumps, which was fun. Both horses were really good.

Derry wonders where Bart’s noseband went!

Rebecca took the picture above, in addition to her hard work in front and back of the house. We are so lucky to have her help!

Harry took the dogs for a short walk, and got a picture with all four dogs in one shot, a rare feat…

Nettie, Cedar, Weedy and Mistletoe

By the end of the day, we were both exhausted. Harry submitted to one more little picture…

A Red Bellied Woodpecker stopped by. He wasn’t very friendly to Mrs. Cardinal. I think he heard about coronavirus and wanted her to keep her distance!

And finally, Rebecca brought gorgeous early peonies in addition to delicious eggs…

Stay well, stay safe, wash your hands. Be joyful.

  1. Dear Anne, I shared your lovely sentiment and Rebecca’s peonies with my friends on FB, they are too good to keep to myself. You may not have noticed much difference without the noseband, but I feel certain that Bart and Derry were grateful for the comfort. Less tack to clean, yippeeee! Have a May Day blessed with sun and joy.
    Peace, L

    1. I do think Bart was more comfortable! And Jane thought Derry WAS better without the noseband. I am just not sophisticated enough, and I lack focus, attention to detail. I definitely like to shirk work, so less tack to clean is a big plus! May Day is blessed with sun and joy. Thank you! I hope the same goes up north, where I expect you are still enjoying daffodils.
