My day started with an early ride here at home. Bart was delightful and I rode him in Willi’s antique bridle with no noseband. Willi was Harry’s horse of a lifetime, so I hope Bart picked up some good vibes from the old tack.
Bart stayed home and Derry went to the NEC to meet up with Sarah Mechlin for the 1 meter class. Poor Sarah is unwell, but that doesn’t stop her from riding, and riding well. They had a beautiful, clear trip for another blue ribbon.
Mia and Melissa also did the 1 meter class, but had four faults. Not their day. While skill is needed, luck is always part of the sport – part of life, really, of course.
The schedule is agonizingly slow out in “jumper land”, and it’s still oppressively hot, but we enjoy watching. Jen Robertson and Urijah continue to impress in the Low and High Training. His feet hardly touch the ground!
Home again, Jane and Derry walked back to their house, with Jane looking a bit like a “homeless person with a horse”, as Jane observed.
Great! Keep translating the jump heights for the benefit of those with failing memories. I hope you have that picture of harry and Willi framed on the piano and the barn wall. Congratulations on all the blues.
