Every morning, Tom Morris greets me at the barn. Every evening, he leaves for a night of adventure. Tom Morris arrived here as a stray, and I don’t feel I can really “tame” him. He loves to go out in the dark, no matter what the weather, so I wish him well as he romps off into the night. Well, it appears he tangled with something last night. I dread that he may contract FIV, but there is nothing I can do. So far, he seems fine, but I will not be surprised if this gets infected…

Harry continues to improve. Today, he showered quite independently. I am still needed for a few things, but the progress is expeditious. He wears the brace most of the time, but even that he can remove himself. He does still accept my help to put it back on. And I do still fix meals to some extent.

While I spent a little time outside, Harry worked in the studio…

Outside, these lovely little blue flowers come up every early Spring. I don’t know what they are. I call them Matthew flowers, as we planted them on my brother’s grave. I love seeing them every year…

Roscoe and Rosie are not practicing social distancing, those bad cats! Actually, I heard someone on a podcast say that “physical distancing” is a better term. We don’t want to stop being social creatures. Neither do Roscoe and Rosie!

Licorice, on the other hand, has no problem with isolation. She is not a very social creature, though very sweet and friendly to me, as the provider of meals…

Kris sent me a Facebook memory of Bart showing in Ohio that popped up on his feed from two years ago. It’s hard to believe that I had paid my entries and planned to be showing in Ohio this very weekend. Who could have imagined the strange turns life would take? It’s hard to believe we will ever horse show again, but we will certainly get to the other side of this crisis eventually. In the meantime, the memories help.

So another day comes to an end. It was rainy, and blustery, but warm. As evening descended, the light was beautiful. I feel so fortunate to be able to spend these days of “quarantine” outside much of the time. I hear that cases of Covid-19 are increasing faster here in Missouri than any other state. It’s surreal, but it’s happening. Stay safe, stay well and hang on.

  1. Feels good to see you on Bart and Harry in the studio. Happy to hear all is well at BFF.

  2. Great shot of you and Bart! I love the sunrises and sunsets too. My view is best for sunrises, fitting because I am a morning person. Yep! This too will pass and we’ll all be better for it. So many signs and actions of people helping others. Recently on FB a Southwest Airlines Flight was filled with doctors and nurses heading to NY to help out with their crisis. Many GoFundMe’s started for restaurant workers, beauticians, massage therapists, etc. all out of work. And, I am enjoying the NYT’s Art’s section where music critics have shared Beethoven’s nine symphonies asking their readers/listeners to choose theri favorite. Lovely.
