Merry Christmas 2023

And so it is Christmas… We are lucky ones, but there is little enough merriment in the world these days. I choose here to narrow my focus and count blessings, but that doesn’t mean I am not holding many less fortunate ones in my heart.

Today was wet and dreary, but mild. The horses are filthy, but enjoying their time pretending to be a wild herd, enduring the weather.

Harry is much better today, which is the best Christmas gift possible. He is resting, and slowly getting strength back.

This morning, I popped over to Jane’s house with Eddy. He loves Jane! As do we – she is our hero.

Eddy and I took a walk when the rain stopped.

The birds and squirrels are our Christmas decorations this year.

We had our first fire of the season. It’s not terribly cold, but it is quite dreary, and the fire added cheer to the afternoon. Jane came over for a cup of tea. Eddy was thrilled.

And so, it was a very special Christmas here. We have much gratitude for Jane, for Vlad, for Dr. Cooper, and all the health care workers at St. Luke’s Hospital who got Harry home for Christmas. Our spirits are lifted by all our friends’ concern and prayers and love during this dreadful December. We wish for good health for everyone. There is a lot of sickness about.

On we go, with many Christmas cards to send, “better late than never”. Patience!

The Ozark Witch Hazel has put. out one last magical bloom, reminding us that anything can happen.

Be safe, be well, Happy Christmas, and welcome longer days and more light! Slava Ukraini! Peace, peace, peace…

  1. Yay hooray three cheers you’re home! Everyone looks marvelous. Go Harry Go! Eddy looks a delight. Stelladora liked shoes, but she usually remodeled them. Happy to see intact shoes on the dresser.

    Peace

  2. I got up this morning and earlier than usual, turned on the machine i.e. Macbook Air. My first hope was “Wouldn’t it be grand if Anne sent a Christmas blog?” And you did! I am jubilant over the homecoming, insuring a glorious Christmas after all. A Christmas with all the necessary fittings, your best friend, Jane, horses happy in their mud clothes, doggies happy with their humans, showing love all around. It’s a real Christmas treat. We, Barry, me, Etta James, Jesse and Shobiz send our love too!

  3. Harry looks much improved, your picture on the Oh Deer hat was very complimentary, and Eddy looks like a kisser for sure. Here’s to a happy and healthy New Year.

  4. So happy for you both and send best wishes for good health and happiness and a very peaceful 2024. Let us know if dinner on the first is on.

  5. I was so glad to see that you made it home for Christmas. It’s so sweet that Weedy and Roscoe moved in to keep watch. Young Eddy looks quite a character but it must be fun having a young pup.
Best wishes to you all…Jane too of course.

  6. It is so great to see Harry smiling!!!!! I got busy and missed a few blogs and I was wondering what had happened to Harry. I am now all caught up and am so sorry that both of you have been sick, but so very happy that all is better now and Harry is home smiling. Being reunited with two dogs and a cat has to make a guy feel better!! I’m so glad you didn’t get too sick, but I guess you thought you were certainly sick enough! I am amazed and pleased that Eddy has fit into your family so well. Looks like he now has the forever home that he deserves! I’m sure he will never want to escape from the perfect home he has found himself in now! I absolutely LOVE your blogs. One of these days I will go back to the beginning of time and read them all. I wish you all a healthy and happy 2024.
