The first day of the Katy Trail Bike trip only entailed about two blocks of actual biking, but it was quite a day.
Harry’s heart picked Wednesday morning to misbehave. It looked like I would not be going on the bike trip. After several calls to various doctors we went into St Louis for an EKG at the electrophysiologist’s office.
The stress, due to the timing, was considerable. Poor Harry was in rough shape. There was an incredible turn of luck, though, when his atrial fibrillation converted to sinus rhythm on the table during the EKG. it was a huge relief, but the schedule was such that it was still possible for me to get to the train for Sedalia with the other two intrepid bikers (also technically old ladies, though not as old as I am). It was quite a scramble! There was last minute fence repair (not just duct tape, either) but Harry insisted I go, and he and Weedy took me to the station in good time.
Blogging on a cell phone is not easy, but the train trip was fun and we biked through the dark streets of Sedalia without falling off, to the lovely, old Hotel Bothwell, from whence we will embark on the brutal first day 50 mile trek eastward.
I haven’t quite figured out cell phone blogging, but this will be my chance to learn.
Be safe, be well. Slava Ukraini! Pray for peace.
Wow … what a hotel. Last vestige of comfort for three days. Weedy and I are cheering for you!
I would never leave that hotel.
