Yesterday, August 31, my father would have been 97. Here is a picture of him – an August evening in the late twentieth century, on Lake Michigan, watching for the Green Flash.
There was no blog yesterday because Jane and Harry and I went to the theater (Stages, in Kirkwood) to see Always Patsy Cline. It was the first performance we have seen since the pandemic, and our first opportunity to see the new Kirkwood Performing Arts Building. Great fun, despite masks being required, but too late an evening for a blog.
Yesterday morning, we rode, despite the still muggy, warm conditions. Here is Susan on Oisin over the rolltop. All the horses were good, and horse flies were no longer out in force. The weather finally changed while we were at the theater, and we drove home in rain
Harlan made his regular Tuesday appearance, having just celebrated his birthday on Monday. His visit always supplies interesting stories. Driving a trash truck is more adventurous than one might think.
Jane came over and helped me school Stone. Her roof is being replaced, which is noisy and horribly messy. We are next, and dreading it.
This morning began with vaccinations for the horses, so they got a day off, which they enjoyed, with cooler weather.
Stone enjoying his rest day Bart is so tired he is out of focus! Oisin hears the constant banging at Jane’s house
In the barn, Tom Morris and Rosie compete for the cat seat in the barn aisle. Roscoe makes his daily visit to the barn to keep an eye on things.

Harry had a meeting today in downtown St. Louis. He acquitted himself well, and once he got home, like the horses, he had a quiet, restful day. No photographic proof of that!
Oisin just learned that the trailer is hitched up so that we can go for a lesson tomorrow at Happenstance.
Oh, NO! Not back to work so soon!
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Theatre in Kirkwood? Funny little community, so stunted in some ways, and now theatre! Horses look so content, and happy. Lovely to see!
