Windy Wednesday – March 10, 2021

My least favorite weather condition is wind. I don’t know how my friends who live on the plains can stand it. Today the winds were nonstop, and we decided it was too windy for riding.

We had an early start with a trip to Quest in Wentzville for blood work. I get my annual physical on Friday. I was a “walk in” but our timing was good, and I got in immediately. I was glad that I was vaccinated because a woman came in to the waiting room right after I arrived and she was not wearing a mask, flouting the many signs requiring face covering. It is interesting how obstinate many people in this area are about masks.

We had breakfast at Starbucks. Weedy was thrilled – he got a “pup cup” of whipped cream just for being a good dog in the car with us. Again, our timing was good, and there was no line at the drive through.

At home, the birds were bouncing around in the wind.

Marianne was as cheerful as ever.

Also cheerful – the daffodils opening up everywhere.

Harry ran errands into St. Louis county and returned with Imo’s pizza, so Jane came over and we had a late, but delicious lunch together. No photography was allowed!

Outside, the horses got wild with the wind and the confinement, but all survived the romping and sparring. Most of the misbehavior is inspired by Bart. It looks terrifying, but they do seem to enjoy it.

Harry and Weedy relaxed at the end of the day.

The lemon trees and other plants have been enjoying some outdoor weather, though the wind has not been much fun today. I am hoping some insects helped to pollinate the lemon tree. Meanwhile, last year’s one Meyer lemon is starting to turn yellow and will soon be harvested!

Finally, Marmalade feels the same way I do about wind. Grumpy.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.

  1. The color in photos of the birds seems more vibrant, exquisite! I also dislike the wind. I wonder why that is. It can be alarming, a harbinger of something awful, perhaps. Beautiful photos of the horses too!!!
    Love them all.
