The horses were rambunctious this morning, and to my dismay, Bart came in bleeding. Never a good start to the day. The injury was insignificant, once I cleaned it up, but it is below the hock and I have learned that any injury below the knee or hock warrants Sulfa tabs as a precaution. And with Bad Luck Bart, precautions are worth taking.

Oisin and Stone napped after breakfast…

Dan, the physical therapist, was scheduled for today, since yesterday was taken up with the trip in for x rays. That meant I needed to vacuum and sweep up some of the filth I have been letting accumulate for a few days. I filled the vacuum canister twice and, with the sweeping, collected about five gallons of hair and dirt. Harry warmed up on the bike before Dan arrived, with Weedy as PT consultant.

The Baltimore Oriole returned for some more of the delicious new treat called SmorgasBUG Suet, full of disgusting meal worms and other icky critters.

Harry gave Mistletoe some attention. She is getting pretty shaggy and needs a spa day, but today all she got was love.

Jane and I rode Derry and Bart. Bart felt great, and the leg looks fine, but we didn’t jump, just in case. We will see how things look tomorrow. We enjoyed watching Derry jump, and Bart was very proud when she executed one of his trademark spook bolts for no apparent reason.

I finished up in the barn and audited a bit of Harry’s therapy workout. Dan is always coming up with more exercises and is very particular about doing them correctly. It exhausts me to watch. Luckily, Dan likes animals, and even knows all the dogs by name! That makes up for piling on the work.

Roscoe got tired of PT, did a stretch, and settled in a sunbeam…

End of another day, a long, difficult one…

Get plenty of sleep, stay safe and well.

  1. Sounds like a long day, but another day infused with love and light and even laughter I suspect. Peace.

  2. “No Hands” is really impressive. I can’t do that one yet, but i have been working on it for quite some time. My tricks: move butt close to edge of chair. lean forward.
