Today was as beautiful as a May day can be, but it was a whirlwind, hectic day.
To start with, Harry went off to Chesterfield to have sutures removed from his tooth implant. On the way out, he picked up Weedy on the driveway, and took him along. It was a great day for Weedy!
I ran a quick errand to Wentzville, alas without my camera. I saw a magnificent turtle – not a box turtle, a water turtle, but not a snapping turtle. I took a snapshot with my phone, but it does not do justice. It was a very big turtle.
Mistletoe watches for Harry. Cedar just watches.
Jane and I rode, Harry returned, and before you know it, without getting done a tenth of what I needed to do today, it was time to get cleaned up and dressed to go into town.

Luckily we allowed plenty of time, since we had a couple of stops to make en route to early dinner with friends. At the second stop, to my dismay, my shoe broke! It hadn’t been worn for over a year during the pandemic, proving the expression “use it or lose it”! The heel and part of the sole broke off, so I broke the other shoe, too, to be even. Harry suggested that there was actually time to go to the shoe store on the way to dinner. Of course, I cannot go to just any shoe store, since I have long (size 11), narrow feet. I had to go to Laurie’s Shoes. I called ahead – we were 12 minutes away – and told them I had a shoe emergency. When we arrived, they had shoes ready to try. The first pair was perfect. On we went to the restaurant, arriving before the other two couples, despite our detour.
It was a fun evening with friends, but there just aren’t enough hours in a post pandemic day.
Marmalade reveled in the sunshine, as we were departing for town.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
