Another day without much to report. I am still struggling a little bit getting over this presumed tick problem. Certainly improving, but not all the way back to form.
I did venture out to do recycling, and pick up a few groceries. When I returned home, there was a box in the mail from a Chinese friend. I was overcome by her generosity, providing masks of many types. They were very welcome, since our current masks are getting pretty ragged. I am constantly astonished by the kindness of so many friends. It was a good mail day today!
Today was also PT day. Dan had to skip last Friday, because of my fever, but he was back with plenty of new exercises for Harry. I went off to ride with Jane before Dan arrived. I couldn’t do much, but it is always good to be back on a horse.
When I turned the horses out afterwards, there was some serious romping. I took a short video, from which I pulled these shots…
I made it back inside in time to see Dan, and watch Harry doing a balancing exercise with Dan spotting him, and the dogs participating. Nettie wonders if she can disrupt Harry’s balance if she bumps him behind the knees. Note that this exercise is done with eyes closed
Then it was time for me to rest again. Since there is so little to tell today, I thought I would revisit May of last year. No thought of pandemics then. The big issue was flooding. The poor Captains’ Return sculpture was wet yet again…
And finally, a year ago Harry was on stage in The Night of The Iguana with Nisi Sturgis and other talented actors and actresses. Our favorite endeavors are most seriously affected by this coronavirus. All theater has ended indefinitely, leaving friends with no incomes. And in the horse world, many people whose livelihoods depend on horse showing are also without a way to make a living. The costs of this pandemic are so immense that they are almost incomprehensible. And there are the lives lost, of course. Terrible times, but we have wonderful memories to hold onto.
Stay well, stay safe, think of pleasant times, and persevere.
Give yourself some grace, a tick-borne disease is no joke. Oh, those pesky balance exercises, still my undoing…. but Richard Burton never looked so good! Rest and be well. Peace
