The days are running along at a frightening clip, and soon the old ladies will try their hands at horse showing. In the meantime, record heat is in the forecast. We are keeping our show horses ready with trail rides and popping over the occasional jumps.
The cats are not very active during these warm days.

The garden is still beautiful, but the heat is going to be difficult for some plants.

Even the birds seem to be lying low in the heat of the day. A cardinal stopped by. This morning, on the way out to recycle, Harry saw a turtle. And a black swallowtail caterpillar enjoys the parsley.
A young man from Straatmann Feed delivered bedding today. I took a break from other chores to help with unloading, then went to get a check. I had the Kawasaki Mule handy because I had been using it, so I drove up the sidewalk to the house. I was in my usual state of hurry, forgetting the old adage “more haste, less speed“.
Sam
With check in hand, I hopped onto the Mule, threw it into reverse and sped back to deliver payment to Sam. With a horrendous crunch, I hit the tall fence that marks the trailer parking area. It was a disaster. I broke the tall post and several pieces of fence. Miraculously, as Sam pointed out, neither I nor the Mule were damaged. My haste will cost me a day of hard work (and plenty of money) to repair the fence. Not to mention that I feel like a complete idiot. Needless to say, Harry took it all in stride. I may be an unfortunate imbecile, but I am lucky in love, for sure.

In the studio, Harry has started a new sculpture, and progress is impressive.
Bart is hoping that I can ride better than I drive!
