Oh, dear! European starlings arrived today. These noisy and numerous birds are aggressive to our regular visitors. One hundred birds were released into Central Park in New York at the end of the nineteenth century, and now there are millions. I can appreciate them, as long as they don’t intimidate the other species. And their overpopulation is nothing compared to ours. I get discouraged as habitat around here continues to disappear to the building of houses for the burgeoning human population. But I am a boomer, part of the big postwar expansion of humanity, so I should stop my squawking.
The other birds came by when the starlings flocked away.

And my bird picture of the day – sometimes I get lucky.
I took Jane to her eye doctor for a recheck after her cataract surgery, and she was given a good report. She has to steer clear of barn work for a week, but the surgery was a great success, and she can now drive herself and do most things. Of course, I forgot to take a picture – and I had my good camera with me, since I saw a bald eagle yesterday on the way home without my camera!
The horses enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather.
A beautiful sunset forecasts a nice day tomorrow.
Mistletoe and Weedy shared a dog bed this evening. Mistletoe is always picking up and dropping dead leaves everywhere (just in case you are wondering what that is in the bed).
And here is Harry at the end of the day, with Weedy.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
That is an incredible cardinal photo! I’m amazed by the transparency of its wings at that angle.
