Wednesday – January 12

It was a beautiful day, feeling like the end of March, not early January. A welcome anomaly, with snow in the forecast for the weekend.

A cardinal with feathers in disarray appeared at the feeder. He seemed fine, but looked like he had met with some sort of mishap.

Our friend, Corinne, came out for a visit to see the studio. She is a baseball fan, but also a well respected horseman (or person). We had a doctor’s appointment scheduled, so suggested an early lunch. I intended to provide the meal, but Corinne suggested she could bring chicken salad, which is Harry’s favorite food, so we were delighted. It was the best chicken salad ever!

Corinne’s visit was way too short, and Jane couldn’t be there either, because she, too, had to take a friend to the doctor. A shame, because the weather would have made for some horse fun with Corinne (including judging the grooming award), but that will have to wait for next time.

A visit to our favorite doctor, Harry’s cardiologist, Dr. Moyer, was uneventful, which is always good when hearts are involved. No change is good news!

Incredibly, we got home in time for a ride, which was hoped for, but not expected. The days are already lengthening a bit. I almost couldn’t ride because Bart is so fat I could barely get the girth onto the billets! I am too old to ride bareback, though he is a good shape for that.

Stone came in with a minor injury on his shoulder. He ran into something. Ouch! It looked worse when I cleaned it up.

The evening sky was glorious, which I think promises another nice day tomorrow.

The evening was spent being delighted by Arthur’s antics. He is much more comfortable with dogs now. It’s exhausting being cute!

Be safe, be well. Peace.

  1. A ride! It must have felt wonderful to hop on. Poor cardinal, looks as if he is getting his feathers in line again. Good news from Harry’s doctor, no news, right? The sunrises and sunsets I never saw living in St, Louis. For years, I assumed they just didn’ happen, meaning the beautiful ones. You all live outside the city, and outside of the 400 ft above sea level area that is much of St. Louis Country. Happy to see Missouri has gorgeous risings and settings too! I just checked, St. Louis 466, Wentzville 626. Oh my, researching sea levels now, what else with these Covid years bring?
