We are reveling in delightful weather, with no air conditioning needed. This morning, the horses had company in the south pasture, but they didn’t care – it was time for breakfast!
It was a big day for deer, actually, though I don’t have any more pictures. We are quite overpopulated here. First, the doe and fawn pictured, then three deer in the back hay field while I was riding Bart, and finally a pair out by the daylilies this evening. They have exhausted the orchard and have now found the one remaining apple tree, alas. I ran out and shouted at them, and they were not particularly alarmed. But one of them bounced over the daylilies and into the paddock, then jumped out of the paddock into the south pasture, turned right, and jumped the fence into the north pasture. With no effort at all – and the fences are 4’6″ tall. They are beautiful creatures, but no longer welcome around here, they are too gluttonous!
Speaking of gluttony, Harry and I had a feast of a breakfast on the porch, thanks to Rebecca’s eggs. The morning was perfect, cool and sunny, with birds out the window, and dogs around the table.
Then, Jane arrived on Derry and we had a wonderful ride.
Harry insisted on taking a picture Jane and Derry and Oisin’s butt
Later, I rode Stone out to check fence, and I have some work to do tomorrow! The horses are in the north pasture tonight, until the south pasture is made safe again.
And speaking of work to do, there is some grass to mow! Roscoe illustrates how tall it is getting,
We ventured out for horse feed, and to pick up a prescription. Harry had a tomato salad for lunch, with fresh basil, which he is picking here.

My favorite butterfly, a monarch, visited the zinnias today.

And here is my friend, the gray catbird.
Speaking of cats, Marmalade is getting a little bit more accustomed to me, and a lot fatter. Tom Morris, Roscoe, and Rosie got their annual vaccinations today. Marilyn (Dr. Finke) was in fine form, and Roy was full of joy, but I failed to get pictures of them.

Harry worked in the studio and did his exercises. I aspire to be as organized and dedicated as Harry, but I’m not even close yet.

Meanwhile, out in Montana, mule baby Rainy is growing up and turning gray! She loves the sprinklers. Photos courtesy of Nancy Stevens.
Rainy is gray! Graying all over Charming mule face Conformation mule!
Stay safe, stay well.
You may notice that my “organization” consists mainly of avoiding the work Anne has done and enjoying the fruits of her labors. I may be a little lazy but I’m not stupid.😊
