Wednesday – April 14, 2021

The incredible Spring continues, and it is not our imagination. Even in New York’s Central Park, trees and shrubs that usually bloom in sequence, are blooming together this year. It really is astonishing.

My walk to the barn is enriched by Cedar and Tom Morris every morning. Today, Marmalade was waiting for us, too.

This was another case of errands and chores filling the day, with not much blog worthy content. Harry went to play golf, and had a good round at a new course he has never played before.

The horses enjoyed a rest.

I took a few pictures of the blooms and the birds.

Roscoe came to the door to be let in. You can see him looking, and wondering when this door will be cleaned!

Horses came in early, and we went to the funeral home to bid goodbye to our neighbor, Rich Schwenck. Too many goodbyes lately, and we will miss Rich’s hardworking presence along the roadway. He was well liked, and there were many friends paying their respects. Trophies and horse show mementos decorated the room, along with pictures from a full life.

On from there, to dinner with Carter and Heidi, which was a tonic. Lively conversation and laughs.

Finally, a late night picture of Weedy and Mistletoe. I am going to follow their lead, and hit the bed.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.

  1. As I am making my way home from Santa Fe, my drive through the Ozarks was spectacular, with Redbuds and Dogwoods blooming profusely, in unison! Happy to hear it is happening at your house. Enjoy.
    Peace, L

  2. Spring is amazing this year, a good time for wonderment and joy. I am loving the photo of Cedar and Tom Morris talking a stroll together, and in stride! Wish me luck! I’ve been invited to Keeneland!

I am sitting shiva till the beginning of next week. Then I will start running my old horse and make him climb some hills. I will let you know when I think we are in shape behaviorally for a sedate trail ride.

  4. Amazing how Reagan Bruni and Frank connect us to Central Park. It is happening here too…there are purple and dogtooth violets, vinca minor, creeping jenny, ajuga, hellebores, Virginia Bluebells, woodland columbine, trumpet honeysuckle, bronze coral bells, pink cranesbill, azalea, and viburnum ALL blooming at 4422 this week. Neighbors all around have flowering trees. The views are breathtaking, literally, as everything is coated with ever-thickening pollen dust.
