Springlike warmth moved in today. Poor Harry is stuck in the house, so I take lots of pictures outside to share with him. And he helps to pick out the shots to post here. But first, I got this picture of him during his second sleep this morning, with Weedy…
I actually left Harry alone today for the first time since the accident. I went to the feed store and to Wentzville for errands. It made me pretty anxious, but he did survive. And it still didn’t let Jane off the hook – I asked her to pick up some more things this afternoon.
It was so warm that the horses lay down and basked in the sunshine…
Packages arrived, including a huge box of chocolates from Mary! Cedar was hoping it was a package of dog biscuits…
Harry did some PT, walking to the sink to bathe and have his hair washed. It’s a slow process, and gets discouraging, but I see steady progress day by day. His sense of humor is slightly bruised, but he was greatly cheered by the mail today – a good book to read, several nice cards, and Betsey’s incomparable hilarious sense of humor. Also some wonderful phone calls. The leg wound (caused by the tail of the sculpture poking Harry’s inner thigh) had no drainage for the first time today, and he finished antibiotics yesterday. That seems a milestone to me. I have not posted pictures of the leg wound, as they are saved for the Gross Book, compilation of “medical” pictures. I don’t want to scare tender souls! Suffice to say, it’s looking good.
A sign of Spring – flocks of robins on the lawn!
When it was time to bring the horses in, I took my camera (which is really Jane’s camera) with me.
Harry is eating well, thanks to friends providing food so that he doesn’t need to rely on me trying to cook!
Another day closer to recovery. Many blessings to count…
Yay! Go Harry Go!
Anne, amazing woman, wife, horsewoman and friend that you are, although the cause of these recent blog posts is sorrowful, I feel as though I am living with you during this trying time and witnessing the Ying Yang that is life. From Harry’s accident and now his miraculous healing and at home! Good move, by the way. To the cat discourse, pictures of your fine looking horses, to the amazing healing of sleep particularly with your loyal loving Weedy, it’s certainly a play!! Thank you!!
Oh, Jane! You are such a good friend! I look forward to one of our deep conversations at the end of the day! Cheers!
