In 1994, Harry and Thomas Equinas were champion Amateur Adult Jumpers at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show with Todd Minikus schooling them. Todd was already on the map by then. He started riding in Iowa and became a top Midwestern rider, but in 1990 he won The President’s Cup at The Washington International and suddenly he was national news. Well, last Saturday, Todd won that class again, for the third time (a rare feat) – thirty years after his first win.
Today, The Chronicle of the Horse ran a Time Travel Tuesday segment about Todd’s incredible horse, Thrilling. They reprinted last year’s Throwback Thursday piece. They don’t mention that Harry has done a sculpture of Thrilling, but it’s a great article… https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/throwback-thursday-an-ottb-named-thrilling-put-todd-minikus-on-the-map
It was another damp and dreary day, a good day to rest and recover. The horses were resigned to their fate. Incredibly, when I snapped a picture of them in the shed, there was a bluebird sitting on the bluebird house that I didn’t notice! It’s not a very good picture, but I love the unexpected flash of blue there.
On the back porch, there were plenty of birds today.
Carolina wren atop the suet feeder Downy woodpecker, wren and chickadee Goldfinch coming in for a landing Female cardinal taking off Cardinal fans her tail Female finch in flight
Another fire this evening, with my two favorite guys.

Stay safe, stay well, take time to recover.
Loved the Chronicle’s video of Minikus’ AmexZ jumpoff. Have watched it three times, so far. Glad to see Harry’s smiling again.
I too love seeing Harry smiling again! Love the photo of him and Thomas Equinas, and the Thrilling sculpture. And I love the female cardinal lifting one foot, readying herself for takeoff. Roscoe and you all must be very comfortable in front of the fire. That’s a good thing about winter.
