I have been asked if I am riding, since I haven’t mentioned that in the blog for quite a while. Well, yes, I am able to ride, but I have put riding on the back burner. I decided to give my knee some time off, and it has benefited. For the past two days, I feel completely back to full strength again.
This morning, all cats and horses were in fine form. Harry had to get some routine bloodwork done, so we went together to Wentzville to Quest. I waited in the car, and then we drove through St. Louis Bread Company for breakfast sandwiches. Dining out, pandemic style.
Tuesday is Trash Day – the dumpster gets emptied. We had a miserable time last Fall, when Waste Management sold our route to Meridian Waste. They were terrible, so we decided to jump ship and sign up with Grace Hauling. To our dismay, we were under contract with Waste Management, and that contract transferred, even though the quality of service did not! We paid an outrageous sum of money to buy out of the contract, and life has moved on. We are very happy with Grace.
Well, today, Harlan showed up to empty the dumpster. We remembered him from Meridian. He had been a wonderful trash man, but Meridian was a dreadful company. As it happened, Harlan has moved to Grace, and we are reunited! It was great to find him here again, and we caught up with all his life changes. It was a good start to the day.
Harry set to work in the studio, while I puttered outside, exhausting myself, so that I barely have the energy left to blog.
It was a beautiful autumn day. The dogs had a wonderful adventure. Cedar led the way.
Cedar is ready for fun The island in front of the house is very colorful Fungus (should be called bird’s egg fungus, but I don’t know what it actually is) Beauty berries
The horses are not suffering during this hiatus in their workload. Stone’s tail surgery is almost healed. I changed the bandage this evening. The site is dry and quite an impressive job.
Marianne came to do barn work this afternoon, and I managed some time to chat with her, which is always fun.
Last night, Roscoe thought he heard something outside the bedroom window, so he was on alert. This afternoon, he was still on the lookout for trouble.
Oisin getting a drink – he’s always first at the gate in the evening, looking forward to his meager dinner.
Stay safe, stay well, stay hydrated.
Maybe if I got a leg brace I could ride. I never could without one.
Haha!
Beauty berries indeed! I love this time of the year! The colors are lush, fireplace on in the morning, so peaceful, and cozy. Horses do seem to love their time off, well most. Horses are certainly individuals! And, watch-cat Roscoe, vigilant and valiant! Go Roscoe! So glad to hear your knee is all well. You’ve had too many things to fix lately it seems to me. Perhaps you work too hard? Happy Horses, Happy Days!
