Tuesday – November 30, 2021

Well, November was gone in a flash. It finished well, with a beautiful day, and great help with chores from Rachael.

Harlan arrived, and was very efficient with the dumpster. Soon after, with chores done, Rachael and I zipped in to St. Louis county to see Uncle Peter (my brother) for an early and delicious lunch. Pictures are not Peter’s thing, so I won’t post a picture of him, but the resemblance with his brother, Jamie, which I have seen, was apparent even to Rachael, who is Jamie’s daughter. I love seeing these echoes of people we have lost.

On the way home, we stopped at The Tack Trunk for some supplies, and a visit to catch up with news of the equestrian world. Meanwhile, Harry was returning from a morning meeting in town, followed by a lunch discussion. We all returned home at about the same time. Rachael’s favorite cat, Rosie, was glad to see her. I was glad to see Harry.

We went to the woods for a chainsaw lesson. I was in awe of Rachael’s skill, and she enjoyed trying my little tiny battery operated chainsaw, with great torque. I learned a lot.

Next, we walked over to Jane’s house to see the work that has been going on there. Jane had a busy time today, with concrete work, a plumber, and an electrician all in one day. We admired the work, but, as usual, it was the animals we really enjoyed.

Walking through the woods with Rachael, I am more aware of the trees. It has been wonderful spending time with someone so young and competent and wise. It gives me some hope for the future.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.

  1. There’s loads of hope for the future, things couldn’t get much worse. And, change is inevitable. Yeh Millennials! But, oh, to be an orange cat at Bronze Fox Farm. Happy December!
