The horses were happily grazing on this cool morning, and came to the gate, ready for feed and a nap. Cora helped me roll wraps while the horses ate breakfast.
Then, we were off to St. Louis County, crossing the river for the first time in a month, to get an x ray. Like last time, I was not allowed back to the exam room. The medical building was pretty empty, and there were only a very few in the waiting room. Radiographic news was good. The femur continues to heal, the cane is no longer needed, and Harry is allowed to hang upside down on the inversion table upstairs. The only prohibition is against running. No impact on the bone allowed yet. In another six weeks, mid-June, Harry will get another x ray. In the meantime, normal life and tincture of time.
Last time we will see the cane!
We took advantage of being across the river to make a shopping trip to Whole Foods to stock up on a few healthy things. When we got home and were finishing lunch, my phone rang – No Caller ID. Normally, I would not answer a call like that, but I have a friend who comes through as No Caller ID, so I answered.
“Anne Weber?” said a male voice. “Yes”, I replied with some defense. “This is Craig Smith, a prosecutor in St. Louis County…”.
Oh, here we go, I thought. Some scammer. “What do you want?” I confronted him. Well, it turns out he was NOT a scammer! He really was a prosecutor, and he was calling about our robbery in January! Apparently, the criminal has been apprehended and they needed a bit of information from me. Also, he wondered if I would be willing to testify. Yes, indeed, I will testify against that reprobate horrible jerk who broke our car window and whose misdeed will resonate through the rest of my life. Of course, as crimes go, it was not particularly awful, I admit. And the prosecutor is not interested in my emotional toll. He wanted facts about money, and whether I had given permission for anyone else to use my credit cards. I am astounded that they caught the guy. I wish they could have found my backpack. Chances are, he will plead, but if not, I will go to trial as a witness for the prosecution. I have requested a police report “with supplemental information” because the prosecutor cannot tell me anything (like who the bad guy is). It wouldn’t be appropriate for him (as prosecutor) to give me (as witness) information, apparently.
A dreary start to the day gave way to some sun this afternoon. I decided it was a good day for a visit to Jane’s botanical garden, taking Nettie along as our tour guide.

Jane and Clover submitted to being photographed. Well, Jane did. Clover seemed pretty disgusted by the camera!
Did you ever see such a look of disgust!?
Back home, the horses were out and the wind was up, as you can see in this picture of Stone.
Since I had the camera, I took a few more pictures…
Rebecca’s work shows Strawberries soon!
Harry was happy at work in the studio…
Marianne was happy at work in the barn…
The horses are again happily grazing in the field…
Finally, Harry kisses Weedy and Cedar goodnight.
Wishing peace, beauty and happiness to all. Stay safe and sleep well. Be healthy.
Yay, happiness rules! Your photojournalism is so welcome here. Jane and Clover, Harry and his dogs. You capture more than their likenesses, Bravo! Cheers ❤️
Oh, Linda, you lift me up with those kind words!
Great news about Harry’s leg and I hope that somehow your backpack is discovered.
AOA way to go with that thieving bastard
