Another gloomy day. This one suited my mood. Today would have been my friend, Ann’s 69th birthday, and I was filled with sorrow that she never even saw 40. Ann and her husband, Jack (Jerry) were killed in 1988, but her loss continues to be a dark corner in my life. So, a sad commemoration on a gray day.
But there was much to do. Kristin came for PT and put Harry through his paces, adding many new exercises and working on his walking technique.
Hands of a healer Bending the broken leg Making the knee work Core strength, too Walking – heel and toe
Word reached us today of the loss of two friends – last night and this morning. Terribly sad, but more so because there can’t be a funeral gathering. Harry and I are a bit despondent on this melancholic Tuesday.
The birds always bring cheer, and I am also enjoying the daily squirrel visits. Today, in the rain, the squirrel held his own tail over his head to keep the rain off his face! Later in the day, a different squirrel paid a call.
Goldfinches promise Spring is here!
Tom Morris decided this was a good day to stay in the tack room and sleep…
Then, Bill and Janis came by with homemade bread and gingerbread! We thought about hoarding it, but called Jane and shared with her. Janis is an amazing baker, and it was only for her delicious bakery items that we were able to entice Jane out of isolation.
Harry explained to the dogs that they cannot have treats just because it’s a miserable, rainy day!
After another hard day in quarantine, Weedy and Harry comfort each other…
And so, on we go, carrying our memories with us into whatever comes next…
Oh gray days are the worst. I hope you find comfort in good memories of your friends while you share the bounty of more good friends today. Love, L

So gloomy yesterday and today. I suffer from seasonal derangement syndrome on theses days. But the picture of you goldfinches cheer me up.
I’m sorry about your friends
Oh, Betsy! I hope you are getting some sunshine today. It’s peeked through here, and what a difference it makes, even under quarantine. Stay well. Are you able to ride?
Hello Anne…thank you for giving me your link….what wonderful pictures of all the animals. I am so jealous of all the goldfinches you have! Pretty red squirrels too. The photo of the dogs trying to extort treats from your husband made me laugh…it’s what the cats do to us. I am sorry about your friends…losses seem particularly hard in this strange time. My best wishes to you. I will find your link to get your feed. Stay well…and best wishes to your husband for strong recovery
Thanks, Carolyn! I continue to enjoy the pictures you take, and all the wonderful stories of your life.
Anne, we just returned from Hawaii after a month of rain and mixed sunshine so sorry, about not responding to your posts sooner. Very sad about Ann and Jerry-such things are tough to relive. Thanks for sharing memories and photo’s of every day life during these trying times (Harry/Pandemic). Give my best to Harry, looks like the slow recuperation process is proceeding well. Really love the Harry/dog photos-as you know I’m a dog person (not so much cats). You guys keep safe and HAPPY! Jerry
Oh, Jerry, so glad you guys made it home! Now stay there until this all finishes, and we will look forward to getting together when we can. Of course, we are lucky – Harry’s injury got us ready for quarantine. We haven’t been able to do much, so nothing has changed since the new rules have gone into effect. But the world is pretty weird these days. It’s surreal. Glad you enjoy the pictures. You will have to learn to tolerate cat pictures, I’m afraid. Harry is better every day. You guys look after each other, and, yes, stay happy. We have found things to laugh at even in these crazy times. So lucky!
