Tuesday is trash day…
It was FROSTY this morning. The birds were hungry, and yesterday Jane gave us the most beautiful new feeder! It is for the smaller birds – the cage keeps the bigger birds from getting to the tube of seed. Starlings will not be able to bother the goldfinches now. Meanwhile, there was a lot of activity elsewhere.

Jane rode over on Derry and we had a good school, once again using poles on the ground to work on our accuracy in numbers of strides and our timing of lead changes. It was great fun.

After riding Bart, I had a short ride on Stone, who, being a gray horse was, as usual, dirty, though not quite as bad as yesterday. He is barefoot, so I haven’t been doing too much with him. Tomorrow Fred will give him front shoes and his work will increase. Best of all, Oisin will get his shoe replaced, and will resume work! It has been a long week of foot wrapping.
Before Stone rolled Ready to ride Fred is coming tomorrow, Oisin!
Harry was in the studio much of the day. When I went to the studio to visit, I tried to take a “family picture” of the dogs on the porch. It was a fail.

I also got some cat pictures today. I missed a great picture tonight when I went out for night check. I had to put the Mule away in the shed, and there, in the box atop the hay, Licorice and Marmalade were curled up together. Of course, Licorice vamoosed as soon as I turned in, but I expect she will return in the peace and quiet. Although it is not completely quiet – the peepers have quite a chorus going tonight. The stars are glorious and Spring is very near.
Rosie sunning on the electric box as I rode past Roscoe complaining that he had to wait five minutes for the door to be opened Licorice has found a little wall to sit on Cora is stuck at the top of the ladder… again!
The forced hyacinths are nearing the end of their run. They have been a delight, and soon I will plant them out in the garden and hope that they can return next year. The odds are slim for forced bulbs, but I’m going to let them try.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Oooooh, I love the bird feeder! When the Starling horde descends, the finches go to my neighbors’ houses! So happy to see and hear about signs of spring at your house. May is our target date, haha!
Peace, L
The first bird photo, Goldfinch in the Early Moring Sun, defines photography as art! I am wild about it. You must frame that one! And the slim curly branch, so Japanesk, exquisite! The design of the photo could not be better. Imagine if the branch continued out of the frame, you wouldn’t have the same perfect photo. I also love the portrait of Stone who has the wide brow, the soft eye, the perfect ears of a steady, tractable, “there for you,” horse. Fine Stone ❤️ Spring sits on the horizon!! Everything out there knows it. Even the grass is greener and Jesse, my 25 yr old g TB, has that opaque white spring snot in his nose. Happy Horses Happy Days!
