I was up early this morning, to go to the polls for the primary vote. My ballot was the 12th cast in Warren County. There wasn’t much turnout while I was there! Harry was very sad not to be able to vote. We were too late applying for an absentee ballot.
Then, home for horse turnout, which went as efficiently as the vote had.
I took Harry’s vitals, with Weedy’s help.
There is no improvement on the atrial fibrillation front. We got up and went to the sink in our bathroom for morning ablutions, and Harry got so fatigued, he had to stop and lie down on our bed. A glass of orange juice helped him rally to return to the recliner, where he had a good breakfast. We are very grateful to Rebecca’s chickens for those delicious, nutritious eggs!
By the time Kristin arrived for PT, Harry was feeling a bit better, though his blood pressure was a bit low, and his pulse very fast and irregular. Despite that, exercises were done, some new ones added, and Kristin was impressed with Harry’s progress. Frankly, the leg is on the back burner now. His heart is the primary problem.

Once Harry was settled again, I went back to Washington to pick up my cat crate and pay for Mickey’s care. I also left a check for the cat rescue organization. They have saved a really good cat and kept my heart from breaking. I will be forever grateful to that vet for her sympathy and help in this rough time. I shed some tears, but was cheered up by the dog at the counter, Eddie…
What is her problem!?
And talk about sad! I saw this poor deer on my way out of our subdivision. It is very lame on the left hind. Maybe hit by a car, or shot during deer season. Still, it seems to be making the best of a bad situation. Grazing happily and unconcerned…
Back home again, we set up an appointment at Quest in Wentzville for bloodwork. Harry had spoken to Dr. Spitzfaden and has permission to travel to Wentzville in the back seat of the car. It will be quite a challenge, but we are going to attempt it in the morning. For Thursday, though, we are sticking with Pastor Keith!
In the late afternoon, Jane stopped in. She picked up yet another Walgreen’s prescription for us, and I yet again forgot to take her picture. Harry got up and worked in the office for a little while.
Another day closer to resolution, Harry’s sense of humor is undaunted by pain, arrhythmia, or fear of Coronavirus. May we all laugh it off…
Oh boy, sounds like more adventures to come. Happy to see Harry’s still smiling. All love’s healing energies…
Anne, Put something slippery on the seat before you try to put him in. Even something long enough that you could pull him from the other side. Helped us.
I’m speechless over yours and Harrys long road to healing. Between Harry’s smile, your tenacity, and Weedy’s loving loyalty. Do wish I were there to cook for you all, however.
Anne, could you give me the name and location of the Washington vet so good with cats and also the name of the cat organization there? Thank you. I need a decent small animal vet for Topaz. Also I would like to make contact with a group that works feline leuk sufferers.
Franklin County Animal Medical Center 636-390-9280 – the vet that I spoke to about Mickey was Dr. Sonja Perry. Everyone I have met at that clinic is nice. So much compassion!
Address is 921 W. Fourteenth Street, Washington MO 63090
Off 100, west of town – turn right across from Casey’s (which is on the left), then go left up the hill.
