Trash day was not postponed by Martin Luther King Day on Monday, which was a relief, since the dumpster is full with seven days of stall cleaning. Harlan, the trash collector (or, maybe, “sanitation engineer”) is always fun to see, keeping a cheerful attitude in spite of a job that can be less than glamorous. We feel very fortunate to see him every week.
I spent a considerable amount of time with a WordPress expert trying to get a better grasp of the platform for blogging. Lately, I have had some “issues” trying to get the blog up. I was relieved to learn that things have changed as a result of an update. Which is to say, relieved that I didn’t cause the problems, but I do so dislike updates! Just as I start to get the hang of these computer things, they change.
The horses don’t care about that. They were happy to get out into the muddy field, after confinement yesterday for the shoer. I caught a few pictures at the end of a big romp. Not the best pictures, but they give an idea of the frolic.
There were blue jays at the front feeder today, and plenty of cardinals at the back.
As for cats, I got a funny picture of Skittle. She had just meowed, and was closing her mouth, but her fierce teeth are still showing. She looks scary, but she is a very sweet, shy little cat, not at all evil. Marmalade is getting calmer and hanging around instead of hiding, and Licorice came out to enjoy the afternoon sun.

The horses were ready to come in as the sun began to slide, despite the mild temperatures. There just isn’t much to eat out in the fields at this time of year.
With the horses settled in the barn and fed, it’s off to the studio. A nice surprise there, with a phone call from a good friend. Poor Harry had to submit to a picture. Proof of life.
Out in Montana, there is no snow right now, and the youngsters are enjoying time to rest and grow. Rainy the mule has a lovely, pleasant expression with those ears forward. She must have been having a happy dream.
In conclusion, a January sunset…
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
