Tuesday – December 15, 2020

It was COLD this morning. In lieu of a thermometer, I took a look at the bird bath…

Since it was trash day, I had to get to work in the barn early, and the day sort of got away from me after that. Cedar led the way to the barn, anticipating her cat food scatter.

I did get an historic photo today from my brother, Peter – my impossibly young parents with impossibly baby me, in Malta, some years ago.

The birds were hungry today, but I was lax with photography. They are a constant source of joy. This dove had a tail feather amiss. The purple finch and goldfinch pretend not to notice.

As on the porch there are always birds, in the barn there are always cats. Roscoe paid a visit to the barn, but thought it was rather cold.

While I was finishing up in the barn this afternoon, a scary creature appeared, giving me a start…

My heart raced even faster (in a good way) when I discovered it was Harry. He helped me finish chores. We brought the horses is, and half dozen deer took over the pasture.

Mary, my cousin, bred Oisin. Mary and I have known each other for a very long time (she is my older cousin). 13 years ago, she enclosed a baby picture in her Christmas card. I never expected that someday we would be at the Pinto World Championships together. Oisin lives with me now, but he will always be Mary’s horse. Because of the pandemic, we missed our ride together this year. We had a Christmas card today from Mary and Tom. We are all looking forward to 2021.

Stay safe, stay well.

  1. I now have two favorite photos of you. Mary must have told a funny story, such joy! Sounds like you had a great day, would have been better with cake though. Vic is going to ask for a new mail carrier for you.

  2. I so loved the picture of your impossibly young parents who seem so perfectly paired in the photo and proved it by all their years together raising right-minded offspring and teaching more of that generation and going fearlessly along side by side and then without each other, too. Tell the picture donor I see it all in that picture pairing.

  3. Thanks for the great pix. I remember that visit, you all had such cute English accents, and your dad (who was hot, by the way) tried to teach us how to properly say “the bananas and the potatoes are in the garage”. I was hoping to get down to ride Oisin this year but life and the damned virus got in the way. Maybe next year!
