The morning was pleasant, and the horses enjoyed some extra grass.
Today I was forced by the rising filth to do some housework. Such a bore for a blogger! I need to be having story worthy adventures.
Harry did his exercises and worked in the studio. I went outside to take some pictures…

Today was also a day of trimming. I trimmed the weeping crab tree that has been causing us to develop poor posture as we crouch down to get under it and enter the kitchen door. And I hedged the hedge in front of the barn.
Whenever I hedge, I think of Uncle Mike, my father’s older brother. He did some “hedgin’ and ditchin'” (as they say in Somerset) one summer while he was off school. He told me that was enough to convince him to get an education and a career that meant he could hire people for the “hedgin’ and ditchin'”.
I saw this little skink in the shed. Perhaps one of the bluetails growing up, but still a pretty small creature.
The Crouchers in the barn this evening…
Stone and Oisin enjoying a scratch at turnout time…
And finally, this picture from my brother. The tree that stood outside my bedroom window, since 1960, fell down yesterday. The place is becoming unrecognizable. Miraculously, it fell away from the house.
My bedroom windows were third and fourth from left
Stay safe, stay well, stay lucky.
I can hear and smell and feel your horses grazing. Their top lines talk to me. And your birds and butterflies, not enough of those around here. I drove by the house I grew up in once. That was that haha. Glad you and Harry missed the worst of the storms. Love to see that Rainy has a playmate! Stay safe and well and lucky yourselves!
And here you are, educated and yet still “hedgin and ditchin”.
