It was a cool, but beautiful morning. The horses were, as my grandmother, Bunty, would say “full of the joys of Spring”…
Being Tuesday, it was PT day, and we had been notified that Kristin would no longer be Harry’s therapist. Today Dan would take over. We expected him mid morning, but we misunderstood his schedule.
We made good use of our time waiting, Harry in the studio, and I did some house cleaning and took some photos.

By the time Dan arrived, I forgot to take his picture! He worked Harry hard, and he will be coming twice weekly. He says Harry is not an average 77 year old man (we all knew that!) and he is looking forward to getting him back into good shape. We have ordered ankle weights and the basement will soon be turned into a gym. A very scuzzy gym, but in the time of coronavirus, we must make do. Certainly, no public gyms are open. Dan is quite happy that Harry will have to climb steps to and from his new “gym”. More PT!
So, this week has suddenly become very busy. Once Dan was gone, I ventured out to buy bedding and a few groceries in Wentzville. I went to Aldi, which did have chunky peanut butter. But no ramen noodles. Apparently, there is a “supply issue”.
It was at Aldi that my day went sort of sideways. The first thing was that the door handle on the truck stopped working – basically, it broke off inside the door somewhere. So, to open the door, I had to open the window and use the outside door handle. Doesn’t sound too complicated, but it sort of gave me claustrophobia, and required way more attention than opening a door should need. And then, I lost my credit card. I had it in my back pocket to use at Charlie’s, but at Aldi they only take cash. When I was leaving Aldi, I could not find the card, so back to Charlie’s I went, to no avail. Then, I called Harry to get him to lock the card. Walking him through getting onto the Citicard site was almost enough to cause divorce. In the end, the card turned up under the seat, but only after I got home and unloaded everything from the truck.
Which explains that riding was taken off the schedule by the time all was said and done. The horses were fine with that change of plan.
It was a strangely disjointed day, but it’s over, and tomorrow will be another chance to get things a little more right.
Today’s final picture is Tom Morris, ready for an evening of adventures, making the most of every part of every day…
Stay safe, don’t misplace anything and have a good day every day.
Adventures never cease. Your credit card adventure sounds something I would do…oh, I did….when I came back from visiting Jim and Lo in Costa Rica! Misplaced all of them—canceled and then found the next day! Tom Morris has the right attitude. You’d flowers are fabulous. Oh, and the door handle, a right of passage for being loyal to your truck for so many years. Go Harry Go!
Here you are! As the trainer for the now 13 yr old Amazombie (winner of the 2011 Breeder’s Cup Sprint) once said about his stalwart race horse, “He was as consistent as the sunrise, and as dependable as a Maytag.” That’s you, Anne, and your blog. It lifts me everyday to see the goings on at Bronze Fox Farm. What Lucky Lucky animals you have, Harry is rocking his recovery, and all the while you staved off divorce over the credit card. I say, “Well done!”
…. and I love the picture of Stone and O in sync!
Gosh, the Ellisville Aldi takes credit cards. I wonder how come?
That is weird! Maybe there is more credit card fraud here, or, more likely, I misunderstood!
