A foggy morning to start the day, always so pretty at this time of year…

The cats were out in force, wanting their breakfast. Tom Morris and Rosie are Halloween cats (or maybe Princeton cats), black and orange. Cora is all sorts of colors, but mainly fat.

Harry and I went to St. Louis to run errands, including getting our flu shots. So that gave us a sense of accomplishment.

Once home, I had some desk work that could no longer be ignored, so I skipped riding, but I did dash down to the ring to say hi to Jane. Derry was looking good.

Not much blog worthy activity today, I’m sorry to say. Marianne, as always, brought smiles with her to help in the barn.

The nasturtiums are hanging on, though there is not much left in the little garden. In the woods, I had been planning to take a brilliant picture of the red berries on spicebush. They didn’t last long! Most are gone, but I saw some along the edge of the woods today. Not as brilliant as they can be in sunlight, but still pretty. Native spicebush is an important host plant for black swallowtail butterflies, so I am happy that there is much of it in the woods.

Finally, a few birds. Goldfinches and a downy woodpecker at the feeder, with a goldfinch diving into the air. And a chickadee. I never tire of them.

Stay safe, stay well, never tire.

  1. Chickadeedeedees are my year round visitors, whether the feeder is full or not. Stubborn little optimists they are. We need more of those.
    Peace
