It was another lovely morning, and another day of errands taking us to St. Louis after horses and cats were tended. This is such a nice time of year, that all the animals seem particularly contented and pleasant.

Horses were turned out early to enjoy a forecast night that will be chilly. Soon, winter coats will be growing. With no horse shows in the foreseeable future, letting the horses get hairy seems unimportant. I could change my attitude if riding makes them too warm, but that is unlikely. I’m not moving from night turnout yet, because the weather promises to be warm again next week. Oh, the complicated life of owning horses! We are lucky, indeed.

The Meyer Lemon tree has produced ONE lemon this year. It is highly prized, and progress will be documented. Right now, it looks like a lime, but it’s early days. Soon, horses will move into the barn at night, and the Meyer Lemon will move into the house until Spring.

A couple of bird pictures – a cardinal with feathers beginning to get really red again. And in flight, with wings folded, he looks like a red grenade.

Marianne was in fine form this evening. It is such a luxury to have her help, and her smile is the best.

I spent some time on the phone with Jane, which is pretty funny, since we are right next door to each other. But I had a mission requiring a long drive, and Jane kept me company much of the way. Seems ages since I have seen her. It’s been a very busy week.

Harry has a golf tournament tomorrow and I managed to get a picture of him preparing to dust off his clubs.

The wood pee wee is still around, as are some hummingbirds, but a lot of the summer birds are gone now. I love this little bird, and will miss him (her?) when it’s time to migrate.

A busy day, and a busy week, but not many adventures for the blog. Sometimes less excitement is a nice change of pace.

Stay safe, stay well.
