Some days, I don’t get it together to take pictures. Today was one of those days. It was a busy day, with Nathaniel and Rebecca here to help, and Marianne in the barn.
No mowing was needed. Mowing might be finished for the year, between dry weather and cool temperatures, the grass has slowed down (sort of like my brain).
Nathaniel is an expert, confident chain saw operator, unlike me. While I love the work I can do with a chainsaw, I am always very careful and unsure of just how trees will fall. Today, it was time to cut trees that had grown up too close to the shed, and it did matter which way they fell, so Nathaniel was in charge. He did an expert job in a fraction of the time I would have taken.
We also cleared some trails, and Nathaniel took off a branch close to the trunk of a redbud tree. He took these amazing pictures of it. A mushroom was growing inside the tree! None of us had ever seen that. This was a living tree.

Rebecca and I (mostly Rebecca) planted bulbs. Nathaniel helped move plants into the house, with cool weather starting tonight, though no frost forecast yet.
Poor Nathaniel finished his day at Jane’s, helping her with some chainsaw work. Alas, they managed to tread on some ground bees (yellow jackets we used to call them, years ago) and Nathaniel got stung for his trouble! It’s that time of year.
Oisin and Stone had baths to prepare for Marilyn’s veterinary visit tomorrow. Bart is clean enough for his vaccinations, but poor Oisin and Stone had to stand tied to dry. They thought it very unjust.
Here are pictures from a beautiful autumn day.

Roscoe was out and about. I got a late afternoon picture of him and of the D. Claudia memorial.
The spice bush leaves are yellowing and dropping already, though there isn’t much in the way of Fall color yet. There are some colorful berries along the silent stream bed. Connie should be here tomorrow to resurrect the pump (we hope!).
Finally, Rebecca always brings flowers with her, and they are gorgeous this week. Look at this prize winning dahlia!
Stay safe, stay well, and watch for the full Harvest Moon tonight.
The moon was brilliant, as I hope your day will be.
What a fun day! And I still don’t have poison ivy and I waded in it, lugging a log or two with ivy roping around it. Glad Stone and your pond are doing well.
