Jane and I started the day on horseback, wandering and laughing, and did a little jumping, too. Jane is laughing because I wanted to get a picture of her long, coronavirus hair. I think it looks great!
I had to venture out for bedding and Rebecca was here and hard at work when I returned. I failed to get a picture today, but I didn’t have much time. Before long, more rain arrived and I decided we should abandon gardening and reconvene next week.
As I returned from the bedding trip, I did take a picture of Jane doing her daily walking exercise. It was too hot for a dog, so she was walking alone.

Of course, the rain stopped and the sun came out for a while, but it rained again off and on through the afternoon. It was a hot and muggy day. Perfect weather for fungi.
Don’t know what these are, but they do not look safe!
I was doing some clearing around the shed, and rain into a little snake I had never seen before – I am pretty sure it was a Rough Earth Snake. I was not able to get a really good picture of it, but in looking in my Reptiles And Amphibians book for identity, I learned That Rough Earth Snakes are “very secretive and rarely seen on the surface”. Check – I found it under a pile of leaves. “It hides under leaves or decaying logs… or a gardener’s compost pile.” Check. “Plain reddish -brown, brown or gray with distinctly pointed snout.” Check! Anyway, I was excited to meet a new creature.
Roscoe spent some time helping Rebecca in the garden. He feels his mere companionship is a great deal of help. And the effort of being companionable wears him out…

Harry also works hard in the studio every day.
Creating a new man Shaving off a few pounds!
Out in Montana, Rainy and Gracie are enjoying their new companions. But today, Jazz, Rainy’s Appaloosa nanny arrived in the new pasture. Rainy is obviously delighted to see him again. She is turning grayer every day! Looks like she could get a piece of the hack, too.
Finally, I went out in search of my lost sunglasses and couldn’t believe how beautiful the evening was. I tried to get a picture, which does not do justice to the mist on the fields, the pink sky, almost dark, and the chorus of cicadas and other night noises starting, as the horses grazed contentedly in the gloaming.
Stay safe, stay well, stay curious, and stay silly.
Ah, silly! Thank God for silly. Ted and I have got that covered, lol. As always, love seeing your pictures and hearing about goings on at BFF. Hope the heat and horseflies abate soon.
did you find your glassses?
NO!!!! I am so irresponsible about glasses, I should not be allowed to have them.
I have lost sunglasses but found them one more time than lost, so I still have a pair. I feel very lucky about that!
