This Week

Around here this week, life has proceeded without much excitement. That is not a bad thing. When I was younger, awful experiences made for great stories, preferably ending well, though not always. Commonplace days are treasures now.

The weather was so icy on Sunday night and into Monday, that Harlan was a day late. He arrived on Wednesday, instead of Tuesday. As always, he had plenty of news. The things Harlan finds in the trash never cease to amaze me. The Carhartts he was wearing were in perfect condition, and thrown out for political reasons!

Marianne was in fine form on Wednesday, as well, after her two days off working here. She has so many animal responsibilities that she never actually has any full days off. Nonetheless, as always, she has the best smile! Next week, she will be working here without a break while Harry is in the hospital. Jane and Marianne will be looking after all the animals, while I stay near Harry. He is having a cardiac ablation, requiring at least one night in hospital. We and the animals are so fortunate to have help from people who know us well.

Yesterday was beautiful, melting the ice and snow, and Marilyn made the most of a beautiful afternoon on horseback.

Our dogs enjoy their adventures without horses.

The cats are very regular in their habits. Tom Morris and Marmalade always greet me in the morning. The shed cats are waiting for afternoon feeding as soon as they see horses coming into the barn.

This is what I see every morning, as I open the barn.

It was COLD this morning.

Only two bird pictures today…

And finally, my favorite animal, the artist …

Be safe, be well, don’t worry, but hope. Slava Ukraini! Peace.

  1. So great to see pictures of you and Harry! Your blog is entertaining and amusing. Love pics of cats. I have two cats that I adore and the remaining bird of four parakeets . He is enjoying life as finally getting all the attention and treats.

  2. Great photos, as usual! The birds in the morning light, superior, the horses both witnessing Trigger’s arrival, and your morning greetings, lovely. This is a great way to start the day with beauty, and so much love. Harry’s face says it all.

    1. Apparently, Carhartt required vaccinations or negative Covid tests for workers, and that set off a sense of outrage. People pitched their Carhartts into the trash!!
I did Google it, and it seems to be true. Harlan was the first I heard of it, but I don’t watch Fox.
