Well, Jane and I did get back into the show ring today. After a short night’s sleep, we were up and off to the NEC at 6:30 this morning. The magnificent yellow orange full moon that had risen as I returned last night, was just dropping behind the western trees as I walked to the barn.
We were very fortunate that the schedule was altered so that we did get to show in the morning, before it got really hot (which happened this afternoon). We did the Low Children’s / Adult Jumper class, and Jane and Derry had a beautiful double clear round to earn a primary color – second place! Bart was wonderful, but hampered by his old lady rider, he had 4 faults in the jump off, after which I also proceeded to go off course. At least I didn’t fall off!
Jane decided that one good class was enough for her, but I went back in the MOHJO Mini Prix, and Bart was a star, earning a special red ribbon (and prize money!) for second place to a very slick ride by Stephanie Hill on her Eowynn (I think that’s her name – a feisty dark bay Thoroughbred mare).
Harry and Louise and other friends took video of our rounds, which was helpful (also depressing, seeing my mistakes). Unfortunately, the schedule did not favor Louise. It got so late today that she decided to scratch her crossrail hunter classes. Our friend, Ted Wright, was drafted as a judge, when they established a fourth ring dedicated to the ground pole and crossrail hunter classes. For all the judges and other workers, it was a very long, hot day.

Once Bart and Derry were washed and cool and settled in their stalls with fans and hay, we waited for Susan H and Riley to show in the .75 jumpers, which were at the hottest part of the day, mid afternoon. The pressure was off for Jane and me, and we spent a pleasant time waiting and watching. There was big news in our aisle – Riley and Tyler got engaged yesterday! I was worried he would break up with her because of the interminable waiting all day. Quite the contrary, though it seems he was pretty worn out today.

At last, Susan and Galatea and Riley and Joseph made their way to the jumper ring. It was worth the wait. They were first and second in both of their classes!

End of a very tiring day, horses are out for the night and Bart will get a couple of days off.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
It was so hot! My hat helped keep the sun off my face, so that was good, but dust was everywhere. A good day nevertheless. It was great to see you.
Great report! Glad you all jumped so well. he fences looked huge, including Louise’s. I mowed and am covered in those microscopic ticks you identified before. You definitely had more fun.
Love the locks on Jojo and his mom. And Bart’s happy tail reminds me of Oisin. I met another horse named Galatea at our little show last weekend
I swear Anne Barry Weber, you could get a blue ribbon in every class and find fault! I say, WELL DONE!! Derry got well deserved time out after her lovely red ribbon round. I’m envious, but the heat, don’t think I could take that. I say, “Well done!” Again.
