Ted Simmons – July 31, 2021

The great catcher, Ted Simmons, who was overlooked by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, until this year, has joined the ranks of sculptures outside Busch Stadium at last. The sculpture was unveiled today at 2 PM. In the 129 year history of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, only nine Cardinals are represented in bronze outside the stadium. Ted Simmons is one of that elite team.

Few baseball players are more deserving of honor than Ted Simmons. The “Cardinal Nation” has known for decades that “Simba” belongs in the list of greats. Harry was thrilled to be able to portray the great Cardinals catcher, and the crowd today (as well as Ted Simmons himself) was delighted with the unveiling.

The pictures speak for themselves. It was a great day.

Stay safe, stay well. Peace.

    1. I was at last night’s game. Even though the score was a disappointment , Harry’s sculpture and the pregame tribute to Ted Simmons were not. It is wonderful to see the permanent recognition of another great Cardinal. Congratulations to Harry and Vlad!

  1. I visited the new bronze before the game. Just like all of Harry’s art, it is alive. There were many fans taking photos and admiring all of the details. Awesome!

  2. Awesome job! Another reason to make another “Weber SculptureTour” of the area.
Also to see the water feature that is up and running it looks so soothing.P
