Today was beautiful, but chilly and very windy. The witch hazel was blooming and tossing in the breeze this morning, against the last of the red maple leaves.
We went in to St. Louis for lunch with friends, Denny and Susan. It was good to spend time with them, but their car had failed to start after church. They got a ride to the restaurant with friends, and after lunch, we dropped them off in the church parking lot to await AAA rescue! It seemed a strange way to say good bye, leaving them with an inoperative car, and hoping to hear that they got home safely.
Firearms deer season opened this weekend, so out here in the country, we hear rifles early in the day, and at dusk. The local deer seem unscathed and not at all worried. We saw some on the neighbors’ lawn in the middle of the afternoon, and a pair on the driveway as the sun was setting.
Marilyn rode by on Trigger, so I put on my high visibility vest and joined her for a short ride. Stone was a delight, as always. Harry is sidelined until his cataract surgery heals, but he did come out of the studio for a visit and took a picture.
Trigger and Stone are pals Anne on Stone and Mariyn on Trigger
Harry is enjoying being able to see clearly now from both of his eyes. He is also enjoying some comfort from Roscoe.
The horses were happy to get into the barn out of the wind. Grass is not as delicious now, since the frosts. Hay has become more desirable. And the “goodnight cookies” are much appreciated.
Roscoe’s goal is to spread sweetness and light wherever he goes, like P.G. Wodehouse’s Uncle Fred.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace, and sweetness and light to all.
Woderful photos of everything and everyone!
Good to see that Harry is doing well. Thanks Anne
