This lush Spring is beautiful, and last night the oppressive weather broke, without terrible storms. The morning was cooler, and pleasant for outdoor work. I have decided to wait until the stitches are out of my nose before I ride. Bart is particularly enjoying the break.
Michael’s help during the week, moving screenings (small rock) has held up to the rain we have had, and curtailed continued erosion.
Very exciting news – I have identified two new bird’s nests – one a blue jay way high in a pine tree outside the mud room (too high for a picture), and the other I found today – a catbird in the winterberry bush along the stream. I tried to get a picture but it didn’t turn out. My eyes saw it, though. I love the catbirds and am very glad they are nesting here again. Of course, we also have two pairs of bluebirds in the two bluebird houses, and swallows in the barn.
In other exciting animal sightings, I got wonderful pictures of a skink on a tree. Look at its beautiful feet. Reptiles are not as well appreciated as some life forms, alas.
Today, Marilyn rode through, which is always fun. Thanks to wanting a picture of her on the trail in the woods, I had a turtle (another reptile) sighting. This one has been scarred, which makes it very distinctive. I hope to see it again.
Speaking of beautiful creatures…
Here are some of the flowers today…
I must confess that I prefer to work outside, despite the sweat. Here is evidence of my failure to dust in the house – one of my favorite of Harry’s early sculptures “Near Miss”. A spider has made the most of it! Cobwebs in the sunshine… not enough hours in the day.
Be safe, be well. Slava Ukraini! Peace.
Your blog never fails to make my day better. Thank you so much—I can’t wait to show Joey all the awesome pictures, especially of the skink! Hope to see you soon ❤️ Slava Ukraini!!!
So many birds and flowers and other beautiful creatures!
I am enthralled!! The Grosbeak male certainly outshines the little female. I can’t believe the variety of birds you get!! The Catbird’s song is wonderful. The skink is looking right into the camera!! A true model. And, now I know what I am passing on my walks, Christmas Cactus. The early sculpture is awesome, cob webs and all. I once knew a gal in Columbia who never minded the cob webs, she considered them entertainement. Ah, perspective is everything. Jane’s hat is very British. which reminds me, are you watching the Queen’s Platinum Celebrations? The horses!!
