It was another hot day, but less humid than yesterday, which was a relief. Jane left bright and early to jump judge at the Queeny Park Horse Trials. I held down the fort here. There were animals to look after, grass to mow, and various chores. Before you know it, another day done.
I took my camera with me when I went to Jane’s house. I saw a hummingbird in a tree!
There were also other birds today.
Goldfinches, always cheerful Black capped chickadee Swallow babies at Jane’s – almost ready to fly!
Also at Jane’s house, in addition to her delightful animals, are prize winning hollyhocks and a planter of upright fuchsia.
Derry enjoys her hay
Back at Bronze Fox, in the garden there are lovely little blue flowers in bloom. I must have planted them, but I don’t know what they are. The cats decorate the barn area. Rosie and Cora missed out.
Twizzler and Skittle Tom Morris and Roscoe Licorice and Marmalade
The horses decorate the evening pasture.
Harry and Weedy enhance my life. That bad dog lost his GPS tracker today, though.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Is the blue flower a larkspur? part of the delphinium family? I sowed some last year, expecting it to be an annual. Was disappointed, so did not sow again. But it must have self seeded, and is blooming more vivid the last few weeks.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES TO THE “LORD OF THE MANOR” (Harry that is).
Saw the picture of Hollyhocks..fond memories from my childhood when they grew everywhere and we made “dolls” from them. When they go to seed could you save a few for me? I would like to see if I could grow them here.
I will definitely harvest some seeds from Jane’s hollyhocks and send them north to you!
Perhaps you would be interested in Hughesnet satellite internet service. I used it in a former life. Worked for me. I just checked the pricing, and it is less than it used to be.
Thanks, Ted. I will investigate that.
My plant Identification app, Picture This, says your lovely blue flower is a Grassnut, commonly called a Triplet Lily. Jane’s Holly hocks are fantastic. Mine are two hands high, hahaha, thanks Northern Michigan. I hope they grow up to look like Jane’s before the first frost.
Peace
