Another hot day, and I will not continue to report on that, since it is going to be hot for the rest of the summer. The humidity is insane right now. I will try to mention the weather only when it improves.
The morning light, though, is gorgeous. We had a nice early ride.
After we rode, Jane and Derry were beautiful in the doorway of the barn. I forgot to tell Jane to smile. Derry has the clover slobbers. It’s that time of year.
Not much to report. I did the push mowing until the heavens opened and called a halt. We had half an inch of unexpected rain! Afterwards, I took some garden pictures.

I got started putting pictures back on the walls in the studio. Harry has given me free rein to redesign things a bit. It will be a long process, but I got one section done today. Looks like I need to straighten that frame on the left!
On the other side of the studio, the only thing replaced, so far, is the portrait of Jane as a young woman, one of my favorite pieces. Harry forgot to tell her to smile!
Roscoe always enjoys following me around the garden. He is very photogenic.
Big cat in a cage
Fireworks again tonight. Before they started, Nettie was happily in her chair. Now she is under my desk.
Out in Utah, our niece, Rachael, is a wildfire firefighter. She sent pictures from the helicopter. They have been fighting the Canal Fire, but it has died down, so she will be reassigned. Interesting to learn that even in the wilderness, they are worried about Covid, mostly fear of spreading it to family.
Rachael is the one without a beard
Stay safe, stay well, stay interesting and interested.
Brave Rachel! Funny you report on the Canal Fire. Last night I wondered about fires out West and about the dying off of so many pines. Wouldn’t it be nice if the “news” reported such events, perhaps stirring some interest in the environment. The “news” reeks of redundancy, COVID, Trump, politics, COVID. Trump, politics, Oh five were killed in Somalia, back to COVID, BLM, killings, COVID. I prefer Roscoe, Harry’s studio and current and past sculptures, dogs and horses, and your flowers and birds. Where is Marmalade? Gone?
I took a picture of Marmalade this morning and will post it this evening. He is fine but continues to mistrust me.
Pond plant is Lizard’s Tail, Swamp Lily, Water-dragon, Swamp Root, or Dragon’s Tail. I like Dragon’s Tail 😊 Thank you Picture This, my plant ID app!
