Oh, we had Irish weather for St. Patrick’s Day. Fred came to give our three Irish horses fresh shoes – Derry, or Irish Amber, and the two Pearl Brothers, Oisin and Bart. The boys have the same father, an Irish horse named Mountain Pearl, who stood in Iowa for a while, but then returned to Ireland. It is pure Irish coincidence that Oisin and Bart have both ended up here – Irish luck for me!
It was cool, so we closed one end of the barn. Things got pretty smoky with the hot shoeing. Fred did a superlative job, as usual. The horses’ feet look amazing.
The Pearl Brothers Oisin on fire Oisin getting hot fit Derry’s turn Jane on a chilly day for watching Fred work Fred never complains about the weather Jane and Derry are leaving. Oisin wants to get out to the paddock!
Harry, meanwhile, was on an errand to St. Louis county and had lunch with his friend, Jack (Mistletoe’s favorite victim) at the quintessential Irish pub, Annie Gunn’s. Vaccination has opened up our social life again. When he returned, he got to work on sketches for a sculpture proposal.
I spent very little time in the house, so I only took two bird pictures today.

Even the daffodils are bedraggled with all this rain. Roscoe stopped to smell the flowers on the way to the house. There is standing water everywhere.
After I brought the horses in, some deer came through the north pasture. Too wet for jumping the fence, they slipped under it instead.
At the end of the day, Harry and Mistletoe had a cuddle on the couch.
Stay safe, stay well, stay lucky. Peace.
Getting back to normal at Bronze Fox Farm! I wouldn’t mind celebrating at Annie Gunn’s!
Sounds like a glorious St. Patrick’s day. Go Harry Go!
Peace
