Fred called last night just to make sure we remembered today is shoeing day. No chance we could forget that! Stone, though, has decided to skip shoeing. He lost a shoe in early January, and I pulled the other one. He has good feet, and can go barefoot for a while, since we aren’t riding much. I will save his shoe for Fred’s next visit, in March.
It was a frosty start to the day, so Fred suggested we start an hour later, to give outdoor temperatures a chance to rise. I put the time to good use by giving Harry a haircut. Only because he was going to town to grocery shop and he was saying it might be worth risking the virus to get a haircut!
Fred arrived and started with Oisin. His injury is healing slowly. It’s a difficult area, but it doesn’t seem to bother him at all.

Jane arrived with Derry, who was quite happy to be coming over for a visit.
Easy, Lightning! Grooming award winner, Derry! Shoes in the forge
We had great fun talking to Fred, who is always full of pithy wisdom and many laughs. His visit was somewhat bogged down by all our conversation, but he is off to Arizona for a month, so we had to make the most of enjoying him while we could.

After Fred left, Twizzler came out of hiding and soaked up a little sun. He is a very photogenic cat.
Cedar returned to the house after a late lunchtime ramble.
The afternoon saw many cardinals on the back porch.
Finally, a visit to the studio to complete the day.
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Twizzler is a photogenic cat. So is Harry. I want to put my feet up next to Fed’s forge. Your birds are fab, thanks!
Peace, L
Your haircut looks great, Harry!
I am not riding AT ALL. Starting again end of Feb. Don’t miss it. Not a bit. Hope to get the pastures seeded after my birthday feb 10 when I hope for the usual warmup
Why don’t you have squirrels? Or sparrows? I’m jealous!
