This day has been very hectic, and it has gone by in a blur, with hardly any pictures to show.
The horses came in for breakfast, and at 7:45 Bart hopped in the trailer and off we went to the NEC. Jane brought Derry in her trailer. We each have so much stuff that it was just easier to bring both trailers.
We settled the horses into stalls, went to the office and got our numbers, and discovered that there would be no jumps outside to school over. I had planned to simply hack Bart anyway, and that turned out to be the case for Derry, too. We had to wait until the jumper ring footing was watered and worked, so we set up our tack stall and banner, since it is a very special show. Our neighbor in the aisle is Reid Rickett of Westminster Farm in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She and her groom, Antonio, seem very nice. She is an excellent rider.
It was hot, so we didn’t do much. Both horses were good. Derry is a delight, and Bart was full of energy. Once they were ridden, we headed home with both horses in my trailer. I had a quick lunch with Harry, and then we dashed back to the NEC to finish set up and to visit with a few people.
On the way home, I saw the local pair of fawns, which have almost lost their spots. I had the camera with me.
I didn’t have a great picture taking day, but I got a shot of Bizzie, who is a dynamo and a friend, and who has a very exciting new horse, called Bond.
We returned home, with weather threatening rain. I turned the horses out, as it was cooler outside than in the barn. I completely forgot that Bart is getting fed twice daily right now, so I had to dash out and feed him in the pasture. It’s awful having a forgetful, old owner. I’m sure the horses talk about what an idiot I am.
Dinner al fresco
The other horses enjoyed carrots and apples while Bart ate his supplements, and then they grazed while Bart shook his feed tub, in case there was something stuck on the side.
It’s a real luxury to be able to bring the horses home for night turnout. We feel very lucky, and I feel very nervous for the actual showing tomorrow!
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
Have fun!
