It was a gloomy start to the day, but I was buoyed up by being able to go to the barn and do morning chores. The horses were well behaved, Marianne had everything ship shape, and the cats were as happy to see me as I was to see them.
I also met this guy in Bart’s stall, managed to catch him and turn him loose.
I ventured out to do multiple errands, which turned out to be exhausting. On the way out, I met a cat alongside the road. Not at our place yet, but nearby. I hope it lives in the neighborhood and will find its way home. It looks a little grumpy in this picture, but it was just talking to me. We definitely cannot take in another cat, as I explained to it! It trotted away after our encounter.
We had another inch and a half of rain! Jane and I decided not to ride. My knee feels fine, but it won’t hurt to rest it a little more.
I entertained myself taking a few pictures. There are still new forms of fungi popping up everywhere I look. Better than wildfires, though. We are feeling very fortunate to be here in Missouri.

I did a little bit of tidying up in the garden, while Harry faithfully did his exercises. Roscoe and Rosie kept me company.

It was cool, quite autumnal, so horses could go out a little bit early.

The St. Louis National Charity Horse Show was live streamed, and I couldn’t resist signing up for that. It was nice to see some of the Maclay Regional class, which had an interesting course. Even better, I will get to watch tomorrow’s Grand Prix. Strangely enough, seeing what I am missing did not make me as sad as I expected. Maybe too many other things to be sad about these days.
I didn’t take many bird pictures today, just this out of focus dove, rising to the tree, which I quite like on this dreary day.
Stay safe, stay well.
Happy to hear that you’re feeling better. Harry and his buddies look like a fun group. Fun to see Bravo. The new kitty is lovely. I might try to watch the STL Grand Prix, thanks for sharing!
I love a dreary day, foggy, grey skies, rain all so comforting, like a blanket covering the earth, and softening our energy. It’s raining now, 8AM, in Kentucky. but, when Etta James and I were ready for our walk, it stopped for thirty minutes! What luck, Etta does not like to walk in wetness. St. Louis Charity Horse Show, memories of when a group got it started again, was it Bea Brown at the helm? And, yesterday chatting and reminiscing with Doug Mesker, Otis Brown, my mentor and good friend came up of course, funny stories, happy times. Anne, look where you’ve taken my thoughts, wonderful! Thank you!
