It was a delightful morning ride with Jane and Derry. We kept it to a fairly light ride on the flat, preparing for a lesson tomorrow with Kris, as he passes through en route to Brownland to show.
The sky was cloudless, but two contrails converged above us on the ring.
Marmalade is not getting tame at all. He is a real scaredy cat and not happy. He is eating, and I have touched him, but he has also hissed and growled at me several times today. I do not have the right touch for this cat! Also, he does not seem inclined to use a litter pan, hence much laundry was done today.
I have not seen the catbird recently, but I did see a cat at the birdbath.
Stone has developed an alarming hole in the front of his foot. It looks like my thumbnail, but I don’t walk on my thumbnail. Fred didn’t think it was a big deal, but I suspect he will be shocked to see how it has progressed. No lameness (yet) but it looks a little like white line disease! Always expect the worst…
My thumb, Stone’s toe
Repair attempt
A couple of pictures – one in the garden and one at the edge of the woods. Beauty wherever you choose to look.
Harry worked in the studio, while I puttered around in circles trying to decide what to do. There is too much! We did repair the toilet in the master bathroom, so I have a small sense of accomplishment. Hooray for flexible water supply lines!
By the end of the day, Roscoe is exhausted from ruling over his kingdom. A hard job, but someone’s got to do it. I’m pretty tired, too…
Out in Montana, Rainy is also tired. Growing is very hard work.
A well guarded mule baby
Stay safe, stay well, get plenty of good sleep.
Well, it seems to me your found cat wants to be unfound. Years ago I read an ASPCA article about feral cats. Basically it claimed that cats, above all other domesticated animals, fair well free and outdoors without human help. HUmmmm. I don’t know a thing about these independent creatures, but the article stuck with me as very interesting. Ingenious little critters. So, we go from Mister Independence’s defiant face to Harry’s face of love. Loving what he does, and loving the subject matter, lucky and very smart man! Carry on, always look forward to your morning blogs (for me they are AM). As to the wee bit of an open space in Stone’s hoof, hummm, I’d go with your farrier’s skills and knowledge that you relish. Why not go with his prognosis? Much more fun to worry? Extra Xanax tonight? LOL Oh! PS, I am in love with Rainy’s dam, what is she again? Beautiful mare. He’s pretty cute too. Sending Love !!!
Rainy’s dam is Gracie, and she does look like a lovely horse, certainly a good mother! I believe she is a Quarter Horse.
