The day began, after bad weather preparations in the barn, with a trip to St. Louis for delivery of a sculpture. A Bob Gibson was purchased by O’Connell’s Pub – a place where it will be displayed and appreciated. We were treated to lunch at the pub and enjoyed meeting colorful characters there.
It was, as my erudite brother Peter pointed out, a caliginous sky – obscure and dark – and there was a mighty wind, so riding was skipped. Knowing there will be dreadful weather tomorrow, just took the proverbial wind out of our sails with regard to our riding ambitions.
The horses, however, did work on their fitness. They started the day quite settled, grazing contentedly…
The wind got them riled up this afternoon, and a romp ensued. I am pleased to report that all three broke a sweat and definitely got their cardio today, but no shoes were lost. A relief, with Fred away in Arizona!
With all animals safely in the barns, we spent the evening grieving the loss of another friend. She is gone to whatever comes next, after a long, slow departure. Our hearts break for a smile we will not see again, and for her family. She leaves good memories, and inspired poetry behind for we who will miss her presence.
Be safe, be well. Peace.
Sorry to hear about your friend. Love the sculpture in the bar. Collecting your fabulous shots of horses in motion, thanks for sharing.
Peace
I’m also sorry to hear of your friend’s passing. Did I already share this with you? What a father of a friend said a while back. He was a horseman, and farrier. Late in life he was diagnosed with leukemia. He said, “Life is short, and dying long.” Unfortunately for many of us this is true. On a lighter note, my what great teeth you have Bart! isn’t it wonderful to see your happy horses fully enjoying the weather while you are seeing your future plans go to hell? Heck, they’re in shape! Go! The sunset of our lives, maybe that depends on the intent we have, and the will. When I feel as if my life is over, unreconcilable, caput! I imagine David Attenborough’s life. This gives me hope! And Harry, he just keeps smiling and working, and loving his life, Well Done!!
