March didn’t exactly go out like a lion, but it was very windy today. The weather service issued a “red flag warning” for wind and low humidity, advising against fires outside. It seems to me that weather forecasters are getting increasingly dramatic. March is supposed to be a windy month, and while I am no fan of wind, it is drying the fields and corn farmers are pleased, so that lessens my dislike (a little).
Harry went to play golf, since he is having a rare break between projects and is making the most of it. I ran some errands in Wentzville, taking Weedy with me. He is the perfect traveling companion.

Early this morning, there was ice on the bird bath, after I optimistically unplugged it a couple of weeks ago when the weather warmed. I thawed the ice, and then the wind blew so hard, it blew water out of the bird bath! Tufted titmouses managed to get a drink, anyway.

The regular visitors were here, but the bird feeding has subsided considerably, with the nicer weather.

Jane’s eye report this morning was hopeful. She thinks they might be a little tiny bit better. Certainly no worse.
I snapped a couple of cat pictures, but today was so busy, I really didn’t do much with the camera.

I took some pictures of Harry this evening, but they were not blog worthy. Finally, after I brought the horses in, the herd of deer appeared in the pasture. We are overrun. They are already eating the day lilies near the house, just as they are coming up out of the ground! The cats keep the barn free of mice, but the deer are at the top of the food chain here and, like humans, overpopulating.
Count ’em – nine. They are beautiful, but so many!
Stay safe, stay well. Peace.
March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”, leaving a soft opening for April. Maybe the wind does what it wants?
